Genoa ready for the start of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce 2026
Everything is ready for the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce 2026. The crews will sail to Trieste, where the race will finish during the Barcolana, after a 1,500-nautical-mile non-stop challenge from the Ligurian Sea to the Adriatic.
After leaving Genoa, the boats will pass through the Pisa, Amalfi and Venice gates, reaching the Isola delle Correnti, at the southernmost tip of Sicily, before heading north towards Trieste.
The Crew Presentation Ceremony will take place on 25 September 2026 at 11:00 am at the Galata Museo del Mare, with the expected participation of President of the Liguria Region Marco Bucci, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy, Fleet Admiral Fabio Gregori, as well as civil and military authorities. The ceremony will be preceded at 10:00 am by a performance of the Band of the Northern Interregional Maritime Command.
Ten crews will take part in the race, selected during the qualification races held from 18 to 24 September among more than 20 candidates. They will compete aboard the high-performance Figaro Bénéteau 3, the first production one-design boats equipped with foils, in one of the Mediterranean’s longest and most technically demanding offshore sailing competitions.
The prestigious “Repubbliche Marinare” Award will also be presented to the crew achieving the best overall time at the Pisa, Amalfi and Venice gates.
The Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce 2026 is an initiative of the Ministry of Defence, the Italian Navy and Difesa Servizi, organised in collaboration with SSI Sports & Events, with the institutional partnership of the Minister for Sport and Youth, the Ministry of Tourism, Valore Paese Italia, Liguria Region and Municipality of Genoa, supported by FIV, RORC, Yacht Club Italiano, Yacht Club La Maddalena, SVBG, MUMA and Associazione Promotori Musei del Mare Onlus, with the patronage of CONI.
The event brings the values of the Italian Navy – discipline, teamwork, leadership and the ability to face challenges – to the sea, while connecting sport, maritime heritage, territories and Italian culture.
From 18 to 25 September, information points of the Italian Navy, FIV, Liguria Region, Municipality of Genoa and Honda Marine are also open at the Galata Museo del Mare.
Together with the “Valore Paese Italia – Lighthouses” project, the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce is a platform promoting Italy’s cultural, tourism and productive heritage along the country’s coastline.
